Frequently asked questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Scottsdale?

HomeGuide's national figures for 2026 are $6 to $15 per square foot, or $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Those are not our quotes. Slope, rock or caliche, access and finish set the real price, which we give in writing after a free visit.

Do I need a permit for a driveway or patio in Scottsdale?

The City of Scottsdale says patio slabs and driveways inside your property boundaries need planning approval but not a building permit. Every retaining wall needs a permit and engineered plans, and work at the street needs city approval.

Can you pour concrete in the Scottsdale summer?

Yes. Summer pours start before sunrise and are finished by mid-morning. The slab is cured straight away so the heat and dry air do not weaken the surface, and we watch the forecast for monsoon storms.

How long before I can use new concrete?

Walk on it after one to two days. Drive a car on it after about seven days. Keep heavy vehicles such as motorhomes off for about 28 days.

Who contacts Arizona 811 before digging?

Whoever is doing the digging. On our jobs we make the request. Locators have two full working days to respond, and the service is free. Private lines such as irrigation and pool plumbing are not marked.

Does a concrete contractor need a licence in Arizona?

Yes, for any job over $1,000 or one that needs a permit, according to the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. You can look up any contractor's licence on the Registrar's website before you hire.

Do you remove the old concrete?

Yes. Tear-out and haul-away are part of our quote when a replacement is needed.

Can cracked concrete be repaired?

Small cracks and surface damage can often be repaired or resurfaced. Slabs that have sunk or broken up usually need to be replaced. We tell you which applies.

Do I need a permit for concrete work in Scottsdale?

Driveway approaches, sidewalks and structural slabs often need a permit. We check the rules for your address.
